Libor scandal: Lord Turner and Del Missier to face MPs

A panel of MPs investigating the Libor scandal engulfing Barclays is to take evidence from executives at the Financial Services Authority along with Barclays’ former chief operating officer.

Lord Adair Turner, chairman of the Financial Services Authority, will give evidence to the Treasury Select Committee on Monday along with Andrew Bailey, head of the FSA’s bank supervision arm. They will be joined by Tracey McDermott, the FSA’s acting director of enforcement and financial Crime.

Former Barclays chief operating officer, Jerry Del Missier, will also testify. Mr Del Misser, resigned as after Bob Diamond quit the bank as chief executive, was dragged into the affair when it emerged he had misinterpreted a conversation between Mr Diamond and Bank of England deputy governor Paul Tucker as an instruction to lower Libor submissions amid fears over Barclays’ financial health.
