Wisconsin lawmakers pass venture capital bill

State of Wisconsin lawmakers passed a venture capital bill Tuesday that would invest $75 million in young Wisconsin companies, but even supporters of the bipartisan legislation said it isn’t enough.

The bill, which passed both the Senate and Assembly Tuesday and could be signed by Gov. Scott Walker Wednesday, would invest $25 million in state money and at least $50 million in private funding through a new program limited to firms involved in advanced manufacturing, agriculture, engineered products, information technology, and medical devices and imaging.
